The Corning Leader has two stories about Eric Massa and Eliot Spitzer. The first
reports that Massa returned Spitzer's donation, and the second
gets his response to the resignation.
Massa's appearance on the DCCC "Red-to-Blue" list is
also mentioned in a Congressional Quarterly item.
Update: The Messenger-Post also
has a story on the Spitzer resignation quoting Massa and Kuhl.

Just an idle thought - whatever happened to loyalty and friendship? This isn't just a knock on Democrats and Spitzer but on both parties and some of their fallen leaders.
I would have loved to read at least from one person something like this:
"Elliot is a friend of mine, and will remain so. I am sickened by what he did, I feel so badly for his wife and children and he needs to resign, but I will stand by him as he tries to put his life back together"
Have our politics gotten this hateful that even a man's friends leave him when he obviously has a big problem?
Unfortunately, from what I've read, Spitzer didn't have many friends in politics. He had colleagues. Big difference.
There are a few examples of friendship in the recent sex scandals. In the case of Larry Craig, for example, Arlen Specter continued to call him a friend in public and encouraged him to fight it. A couple of Senators made a point of going up to Craig and greeting him on the floor when others were giving him a cold shoulder.
I guess I missed that - but am glad to hear about it.
Just to be clear, I'm not to saying that he didn't have friends. A reader emailed me this video of his friend, Jim Cramer from CNBC:
